I’ve been sitting here for the last hour or so reading “The Ninja and Their Secret Fighting Art” by Stephen K. Hayes. The book discusses Mr Hayes’ journey to Japan and discovering the art for himself (well thats what its about up the page I am currently on). As I read, I am learning what Mr. Hayes had discovered about being an uke….I thought I would share a passage from the book since it is relevant to what we have been learning in BBC for the past 2 months.

“Tanemura-san’s face had a slightly annoyed look to it ‘You do not need to go halfway with me. To experience the techinques properly, you must fully apply them. Please throw a real punch that I cannot knock away’” (Hayes, 1981, p. 57).
