Today I saw Dennis do a back kick. I saw what he did, and tried to do it myself. What I saw was his core go down in a spiral while his weight was on the standing foot and his eyes in line with the kicking toe. I tried first to do it step by step. Little checklist of each step. I soon realized that the checklist was useless. So then I tried to just do. When I did this realize that my kicking leg was doing what resembled a hook kick. So I got down on my hands and knees to do our back kicks from the ground. My alignment was what is as perfect as can get too and everything was where it should be. I got back up and tried again… Failed again. So I went slower and slower and finally realized my problem, my flexibility in my hips. Much like my shoulders or anything that is attached to me there is very little flexibility.

So now I’m looking to see if anyone remembers the Junin taiso stretches to help with my flexibility/ would like to go through them with me?
