How do you use your frog drops??

Many people probably believe that martial arts are for only self defense. In my opinion, To-Shin Do can be used in every day life and not just for self defense. For example, while I was pregnant I learned how to fall appropriately so not to hurt myself or the baby. Unfortunately I did fall while I was pregnant, but fortunately I fell correctly and did not injure myself or my baby. After the baby was born I fell again. She was not more than a couple of months old at the time. A second time I was able to land properly and my baby was uninjured. She did not even wake up and cry.

Today we had a girls day at Strawberry Banke. I carried my daughter around in a backpack made to carry toddlers around. I had her for almost two hours. I practiced trying to keep my body in alignment while walking around with her, which helped for most of the time but towards the end my 23 pound baby started to hurt my neck/shoulder area. My sister was kind enough to take her from me and we finished out the trip. At the end, when we were at the car, it was time to take Carey out of the backpack. I attempted to pull her out straight up. This was a bit difficult because my sister is a bit taller than me, and I could not lift Carey high enough to get her little legs out of the pack. So after trying twice I said to my sister “I know Jay, just frog drop.” I grabbed Carey at her arm pits and said “Ok I have her frog drop.” Jess released, frog dropped, and Carey slid out of the pack with ease.

Apparently, while I was focused on pulling Carey out as Jess frog dropped my mom was panicking. Perhaps she thought we were going to drop Carey. As a side note to mom, because she does read these some times, you have to trust your children’s ninja skills. We have been trained by the best :-)
